HAIR COLOR PRODUCTS:

There are 2 main products that we can recommend for use at home:
Clairol and L'Oreal
Clairol being a brand that is gaining ground on L'Oreal which dominated the market for years.
Both are incredible products that can definetely satisfy the needs of a diy colorist.
Unfortunately, we have to stress you and warn you that it's not the hair color product that does it all, there's a substantial amount of
work and craft in to it. So don't just think that it will be easy because you bought the best product available on the hair product market.
Further to the point, these are products that can be mastered by amateurs outside a professional environment such as a hair salon.
That means that professional products are far more effective but can cause serious damage and even harm to the self colorist,
particularly without the safety facilities and equipment and the trained staff available at a salon. That's the reason why they are not
available over the counter. But if you accurately follow the instructions in the box, the job can be done reasonably, just don't act
carelessly. Also remember the difference between permanent and semipermanent colors as sometimes this is overlooked and the effects
of permanent products are in fact 'permanent'. Only a professional colorist can try and fix such an effect but it might end up costing dearly. Just to remind you the quick way of telling if it's permanent or semipermanent: if you're mixing two products out of the box, most likely
that's a permanent hair dye.

all tips and tricks for hair coloring at home

Grey hair coverage: if you are more than 20% gray, you're going to have to do a bit more than camouflage, you need to find some specific advice here (doing grey hair coverage at home)

Hair highlights: if you want to try and do some hair highlighting you need to be extra-cautious if you care for your hair! (higlighting hair at home)

Grey hair blending: if you have just a few grey hairs poking through your natural hair color, and want to camouflage them, here's the advice you need to do it on your own or maybe with a friend to help, but in the comfort of your home and not at a hair salon.

We recommend visiting United Colors of America, hair colorists and hair coloring for a professional in depth look into hair coloring and hair colorists, although aimed at New England residents, it can provide great color hints for anyone-anywhere interested in hair coloring.

Did you know that 'grey' can be spelt 'gray', although the latter is a lot more used in the US? Anyway, you'll notice that both versions are being used throughout this website.
